Soy wax, extracted from natural soybeans, is a plant wax. It is non-toxic and biodegradable, does not produce harmful smoke when burned, and is very friendly to the environment and human health. Moreover, the melting point of soy wax is relatively low, which makes it easier to handle during the production process.

To make soy wax scented candles, you must first prepare the materials and tools. In terms of materials, you need soy wax, aromatherapy essential oils, candle wicks, pigments (optional), and containers for candles, such as glass cups, ceramic cups, etc. Tools include electronic scales, heating containers (such as stainless steel pots), stirring rods, thermometers, etc.

The first step is to weigh the soy wax. According to the size of the selected container, use an electronic scale to accurately weigh the appropriate amount of soy wax. Generally speaking, the larger the container, the more soy wax is needed. For example, a medium-sized glass may require 100-150 grams of soy wax.

Next, put the soy wax in the heating container and melt it by heating it in a water bath. Place the container of soy wax in a stainless steel pot filled with water, heat it over low heat, and stir from time to time. As the temperature rises, the soy wax gradually changes from solid to liquid. In this process, pay attention to controlling the temperature, generally keep the temperature at around 70-80℃, and avoid excessive temperature causing changes in the properties of the soy wax.

When the soy wax is completely melted, you can add aromatherapy essential oils. The selection of aromatherapy essential oils is crucial, and different essential oils have different effects and aromas. For example, lavender essential oil has a soothing and sleep-inducing effect, and lemon essential oil can bring a refreshing and pleasant feeling. Choose one or more essential oils to match according to your preferences and needs. Usually, 5-10 ml of aromatherapy essential oil is added to every 100 grams of soy wax. Too much may affect the burning effect of the candle. After adding the essential oil, stir it thoroughly to allow the essential oil to blend evenly into the soy wax.

If you want to make a colored aromatherapy candle, you can add an appropriate amount of pigment at this time. Add the pigment to the melted soy wax little by little, stirring while adding until the ideal color is reached. It should be noted that the pigment should be specially used for candle making to ensure its safety and stability.

While waiting for the soy wax to cool slightly to 50-60℃, start processing the candle wick. Fix one end of the candle wick to the center of the bottom of the container with hot melt glue, making sure the candle wick is vertical. Then, slowly pour the soy wax liquid that has cooled to the appropriate temperature into the container. Try to keep it steady when pouring to avoid too many bubbles.

After pouring the soy wax, let the candle cool naturally at room temperature. During the cooling process, some small unevenness or depressions may appear on the surface of the candle, which is normal. You can use a heat gun or hair dryer to slightly heat the surface before the candle is completely solidified to restore it to a flat surface.

When the candle is completely cooled and solidified, a beautiful soy wax scented candle is made. Finally, use scissors to trim the candle wick to the appropriate length, about 0.5-1 cm. In this way, when the candle is lit, the flame can burn steadily and release a charming aroma.
